Empowering the local startup scene

Microsoft has been actively partnering with the ecosystem enablers as part of the company’s commitment to empowering local startups and help nurture a vibrant and strong ecosystem in Malaysia. In 2020, Microsoft Malaysia launched the Highway to a 100 Unicorns programme in partnership with Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), the Malaysian Global Innovation & Creativity Centre (MaGIC), and Cradle Fund. Through this programme, 11 high-potential local startups are receiving a year-long mentorship programme with Microsoft for Startups to help them scale and accelerate their growth.

Additionally, Microsoft has been supporting MaGIC as its technology partner via the MyStartup Hub 2021 programme. The initiative aims to reach global innovative startups from all over the world to establish a business hub in Malaysia, thus reinforcing Malaysia’s positioning in the regional ecosystem while instilling the exchange of knowledge between local and international startups.

“The digital economy is making large strides in Malaysia and is growing in importance as the nation’s new driver of growth. The local startups are at the heart of its growth, with their potential to accelerate the digital transformation of industries while enabling the nation’s sustainable socio-economic growth. We’ll continue partnering with the ecosystem enablers, to further enabler our local startups to scale and achieve more,” said Raman.
